The Goodreads Book Tag

goodreads booktag feature image

I was tagged a loooong time ago by Bri at Paperback Bri to do The Goodreads Book Tag. I was going through all the pingbacks on my About Me page and I realised there are a lot of tags need catching up on. I decided to go with one of the most recent and easiest one first, so here’s the tag: 🙂

What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?

fantastic beasts

The last book I marked as read was Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling. I am waaay behind on my Reading Challenge so I looked for a quick and easy read.

What are you ‘currently reading’?

nimona

I am currently reading Nimona, a graphic novel by Noelle Stevenson. I’ve been hunting down graphic novels lately as they’re the easiest way to slam through a reading challenge and your TBR. I haven’t gone through a graphic novel phase since I read all the Maximum Ride ones so I am really enjoying getting back to them.

What was the last book you marked as ‘to read’?

i-was-here

The last book I marked as ‘to read’ was I Was Here by Gayle Forman. I haven’t read one of Forman’s books yet and I was making up a book wishlist for my 18th birthday and put three of his books, including this one, in there. I’ve been too scared to read anything emotional and profound lately and judging by the plot I think I might have another The Last Song fiasco with this one. But I am long overdue for a read of one of her books.

What book do you plan to read next?

hyperbole-and-a-half

I plan on reading Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem and Other Things That Happened by Allie Brosh (man, don’t you just love a good long title?). This book is an autobiography and it is written in a comic type form. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book, including that it is hilarious and filled with humor.

Do you the star rating system?

I do! My average rating so far is 3.73. Though I do agree with Bri and I think that Goodreads should start using a half-star as well.

Are you doing a reading challenge?

I am attempting 30 books this year and if you follow/are friends with me on Goodreads, you’d know I am very, very, very far behind. Exams end on Nov 4 so that gives me a good month and a half of novellas, graphic novels and quick contemporaries.

Do you have a wishlist?

I do have a wishlist. My wishlists are everywhere: The Book Depository, Goodreads, etc. Though my main one is at Amazon right now.

What book do you plan to buy next?

I don’t plan on buying anything soon, there aren’t many new releases that I am really anticipating at the moment. Though if I were to buy something, it would be Hollow City by Ransom Riggs, because I own the first book, and the last book, but not the second to that series O_O

Do you have any favourite quotes?

I only liked one quote on Goodreads and it’s:

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”

~ Dr. Seuss

Who are your favourite authors?

So far I only listed one on Goodreads and that’s Jennifer E. Smith. Though I plan on updating that soon and adding David Levithan, Jennifer Niven, Cassandra Clare, J.K. Rowling (to name a few).

Have you joined any groups?

I am currently not in any groups. I tried though it starts feeling like work and school. I normally don’t like putting a due date on reading books.

Do you think Goodreads could do better?

I don’t know if anyone agrees with me here though I feel as though the website’s layout is still a little all over the place, even after they’ve changed a few things. And again with the half-star ratings 🙂

I have the same plan with my reading challenge – frantically catch up during November and December after exams because I’m so far behind. Fantastic Beasts is one I want to re read, so good choice 🙂
